Peel Dream Magazine – Blind Faith
How many tries does a song get before it goes in the drawer? Joe Stevens recorded “Blind Faith” several times during the Rose Main Reading Room sessions, never caught the sound he was after, watched the structure continue to shift, and set it aside until earlier this year. The finished version takes its cues from Thom Yorke’s The Eraser, The Books and glitchy minimalism, and the subject matches the backstory: a mind walking the same corridors of bad habit, looking for a door that actually opens. A song about getting stuck that spent years stuck itself, and came out sharper for it. It’s one of four previously unavailable tracks on the expanded Taurus, out November 11 on Topshelf Records and on vinyl for the first time.
